Reverie is a short film created by LJMU students. It is a deep exploration of love, memory and human connection in the face of loss. Inspired by personal reflections on the fragility of relationships, and life itself, the film seeks to capture the quiet devastation of watching someone you love slowly become physically, emotionally and psychologically unrecognisable.
At its core, the film is about how identity is shaped through connection. George's sense of self is inseparable from his relationship with his wife, Ida; as his memory deteriorates, so does his understanding of who he is. This raises a central question that drives the film: if we lose our memories, do we lose ourselves - or do the emotional traces of love remain?
Ultimately, Reverie is an attempt to preserve something fleeting: the feeling of being known, seen and loved. Even as memory fades, I hope audiences will see that connection can still persist in fragile, imperfect but profoundly human ways.
